  • Editor: Many years ago I lived in Merced. I recently heard about the homeless shelter that the city was proposing, but all of the residents in that area seemed quite upset about it.

  • Editor: Where are we headed with the health care reform experiment? It seems that Congress and the current administration want to enact a $1 trillion experiment.

  • Editor: On Monday, the City Council made a decision to attempt to better the lives of 296 people. While I applaud the effort to take on a difficult issue, they forgot about the honest hard-working families the action will affect their constituency.

  • Editor: As the state of California is broke, why not let Dylan Morse out of jail and into the custody of his parents who can feed, clothe, shelter and monitor him.

  • Editor: I have an idea I think would give some dignity to the homeless.

  • Editor: Here is a plea to all of the people in our county.

  • Editor: My apologies to my candidates, Michelle Gabriault-Acosta, Bill Blake and Mary-Michal Rawling. I tried to vote Tuesday but had a very frustrating experience.

  • Editor: I greatly appreciated the article in the Tuesday Sun-Star about the City Council's vote to build a homeless campsite at Tyler Road and Gerard Avenue. I happen to live there. Not near it but right next door.
